From 13 October until 27 November 2015, the general public is invited to discover the photo exhibition "Light Reflections" at the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the Université de Haute-Alsace (UHA), implemented by first-year participants in the Eucor degree course "Regio Chimica" at the UHA. With the backing of NovaTris, the cross-border competence centre at UHA, this photo exhibition will enable visitors discover Reflections on Light, while at the same time bring into sharper focus the city of Mulhouse.
This artistic assignment was conducted under the auspices of the “Regio Chimica” transnational degree course, wherein thirty students, in equal share from France and Germany respectively, come together every year. Incorporated into the fortnight-long integration programme at the beginning of the semester, this artistic statement aims at introducing NovaTris' pedagogic approach, namely, one that will enable students to hone their intercultural skills. In addition to this approach affording participants the opportunity to explore Mulhouse and their own creative spheres, it will also offer them a fresh perspective of this Upper Rhine city. Split into five French-German groups who worked on creating a series of photographs whose theme is light in all its facets... each group of students chose one aspect of light and went in search of corresponding motifs throughout Mulhouse. The photographs should depict “reflections” and be combined with an object discovered in-situ. The Regio Chimica degree course is offered in partnership with the University of Freiburg in Germany, where the students will enrol for the second year. In addition to instruction covering its main field of activity, the course’s specifity is that training involves an inter-cultural module, comprising a quarter of all courses taken, which will assist students to acquire the key skills necessary to evolve with ease in a transnational environment. This inter-cultural module is administered by the NovaTris, which secured the title IDEFI in March 2012 for innovative training courses. The lecture “To Observe what Light Conceals” given by Luc Gendre, laboratory engineer at ENSISA, took place at the vernissage on October 13, bringing together many students and UHA staff members.
