Like their fellow students at bachelor and master level, doctoral candidates of Eucor – The European Campus have the same rights in member universities as in their home university (access to online services, restaurants and university residences, special rates in transport, borrowing from libraries etc.). The interdisciplinary offer of the member universities in terms of courses is also open to them. The number of places may however be limited.
Contact points at member universities
- GRACE, University of Basel;
- Graduate Centre (GraCe), University of Freiburg;
- Collège doctoral, universities of Strasbourg and Haute-Alsace;
- Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS), Karlsruher Institute of Technology.
Doctoral candidates can also benefit from the existing networks between the member universities of the European Campus.
"I had already benefited from Eucor's cross-border network for my Master's degree, so when I heard about EURIdoc, I did not hesitate one second to apply."
Victoria Cousin
EURIdoc fellow at the university hospital Freiburg
Binational doctorate: the co-tutorship of thesis
Within Eucor – The European Campus, there are several forms of doctoral supervision: the classical form, the national or international doctorate with double supervision, the European doctorate and the binational doctorate with co-tutorship of thesis – or cotutelle. The latter intensifies international cooperation in research by strengthening the mobility of doctoral candidates. Unlike other types of doctorate, it allows one to obtain a doctorate degree validated by two universities at the same time, based on a single thesis and a single exam taken by the thesis tutors of the two universities concerned.
