9:30 am - 5 pm
Since the beginning of 2021, Franco-German meetings of doctoral students registered in Strasbourg and Freiburg im Breisgau have been organised by videoconference. The first face-to-face meeting will take place on Thursday September, 30th, from 9:30 am to 5 pm at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg im Breisgau.
The morning session will take the form of a workshop dedicated to the questions posed by research in the humanities and social sciences in Franco-German settings: How do we orient ourselves in the two scientific cultures, French and German? What is transnational research and how can you successfully be engaged in it? What conceptual and methodological challenges do we face? Finally, what are the borders and problems, but also the possibilities of research that tries to overcome cultural and linguistic borders, especially in the Franco-German context?
Morgane Le Boulay (SAGE laboratory, University of Strasbourg), who defended a Franco-German thesis and whose work focuses on the circulation of knowledge in Europe, will introduce the day followed by an exchange.
After a joint lunch, Dr. Heinrich Schwendemann will take participants on a tour through the old city centre of Freiburg im Breisgau, which will be an opportunity to meet in a more convivial context.
Of course, this programme can only take place if the (French and German) health regulations allow it. We therefore ask for your understanding in advance, in case the day has to be changed at the last moment.
