A joint strategic plan for the next five years
The Universities of Eucor – The European Campus are consolidating their cooperation and looking towards the future. In February 2019, they adopted a joint strategic plan for the years 2019 to 2023. Within the plan they give concrete form to their vision and the further development of the network with projects, goals and measures in the areas of research and innovation, teaching and doctoral qualification. The basis for this is a joint discussion process at all levels of the universities and detailed site analyses, which have led to the definition of the four priority areas Quantum Sciences and Technology, Personalised Health – Precision Medicine, Sustainability and European Identities.
“On our European Campus, we have a large number of top-class collaborations in research, teaching and innovation. Building on this, we will use the strategic plan to sustainably safeguard and further develop what we have achieved, bundle our competencies in a structured manner and align them for the next five years. This will enable us to profit even more from the added value of our cooperation and develop the European Campus into a European university,” says Prof. Dr. Hans-Jochen Schiewer, President of Eucor – The European Campus.
In order to further simplify the research cooperation of the European Campus, cross-border bridge professorships, exploratory workshops and concepts for joint graduate schools are being tested in the priority areas. The European Campus will also strengthen its relations with business and society in the region.
In the area of teaching, the European Campus intends to make greater use of the potential offered by the regional proximity of its universities and further facilitate mobility. For example, a joint online portal promotes joint and international study programs. As an experimental space for innovative and digital teaching, the European Campus supports its teachers in developing common formats. To this end, the universities are further developing common quality assurance and evaluation criteria and networking their e-learning centers.
The European Campus aims to simplify binational doctoral procedures for doctoral candidates. For example, Cotutelle framework agreements are to be developed for this purpose. An “Eucor – The European Campus Certificate” documents the cross-border qualification achievements of doctoral candidates.
