Second QUSTEC Summer School in Freiburg

The 2nd Summer School of the international doctoral training programme QUSTEC (Quantum Science and Technologies at the European Campus) took place from September 19 to 23, 2022. PhD students from all six partner institutions came to Freiburg and spent five intensive days with scientific lectures, poster sessions, an industry day and a varied social program.

Day 1: Inauguration

Arrival in Freiburg, visit of the Physics Institute and lab tour with concluding rooftop dinner

Day 2: Academia Day

Presentations by Dr. Gabriel Dufour, Prof. Dr. Dietrich Leibfried, Dr. Claudiu Genes, Dr. Hepeg Yao, joint dinner and poster session

Day 3: Academia Day

Tutorials with Dr. Claudiu Genes and Dr. Hepeng Yao, presentations by Dr. Natasha Tomm, Prof. Dr. Piet O. Schmidt and Prof. Dr. Bassano Vacchini, joint dinner and poster session

Day 4: Academia Day

Presentations by Prof. Dr. Martin Weitz, Prof. Dr. Shannon Whitlock, Dr. Katrin Erath-Dulitz, training session in scientific communication and joint dinner

Day 5: Industry Day

PhD fellows discovered companies and career opportunities in their industry, closing remarks and departure

A special thanks goes to this year’s organising team combosed by Alessandra Colla, Andris Erglis, Apurba Das, Salvatore Gatto and Wei Wu. A big thank you also goes to the QUSTEC program manager Nataliia Voievoda, the numerous speakers, the colleagues from the University of Freiburg, the team of the Stadt Hotel Freiburg and many more.
