Members of the Upper Rhine Cluster for Sustainability Research (URCforSR) are the universities of Eucor – The European Campus in Basel, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Mulhouse and Strasbourg as well as the University of Koblenz-Landau (Landau site). Various Universities of Applied Sciences and research institutes are involved as partners. In the long term, the project’s primary objective is to establish a research cluster with at least European outreach and develop, on the one hand, joint, cross-border and interdisciplinary research activities of excellence, and on the other, to create a flagship project of transfer of knowledge to society.
In terms of content, the main theme of the Cluster’s work is the “governance of sustainable growth”, divided into five areas, each contributing to the overall theme:
- Energy, infrastructure, societal change,
- Transformation & Innovation,
- Resource management,
- Multiculturalism and plurilingualism.
