Thursdays, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
This is the first Eucor lecture series of the English Department with contributions from all four universities. This winter semester, the lecture series is coordinated by and from the English Department of the University of Freiburg.
Stephen Crane’s own lifetime spans only 28 years from 1871 to 1900 – and with that the cultural period from early realism and naturalism to the modern, and spatially from New Jersey to England and to Europe. Even if some of the topics in this lecture series are only tangentially related to Stephen Crane as a writer and person, what the individual sessions are trying to do is unfold a kaleidoscopic view of a period in which just about everything changed, or at least made powerful attempts at changing.
All lectures are recorded and will be made available on the YouTube Channel of the Carl Schurz Haus.
