UpQuantVal

Quantum sciences are experiencing rapid growth worldwide. In the Upper Rhine region, universities and research centres possess recognised expertise in the fields of research, education and innovation. Despite this geographical and scientific proximity, the potential for cooperation is still not being fully exploited due to differing administrative and regulatory frameworks.

The UpQuantVal project aims to remove these barriers by developing an integrated cross-border ecosystem in the field of quantum technologies. It is based on close collaboration between academic stakeholders, research institutions, businesses, public authorities and regional decision-makers. The partners include, in particular, several universities from the Eucor – The European Campus network: the University of Strasbourg, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the University of Basel and the University of Freiburg.

Specifically, the project contributes to the creation of networks of infrastructure, the exchange of expertise and the development of joint training activities. It also promotes knowledge transfer to the regional economy by facilitating companies’ access to scientific expertise available at the partner universities and research centres.

The project’s results are intended to serve as a model for other European initiatives in the field of quantum sciences. By strengthening cross-border cooperation, UpQuantVal is helping to position the Upper Rhine as a competitive and attractive innovation region at European level.
