Eucor – The European Campus is looking back on ten successful years of cooperation in the legal form of a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC). At the time, Eucor was the first EGTC to be run exclusively by universities – today it is regarded as a model and a benchmark for cross-border cooperation in higher education.

Eucor and its universities celebrate the anniversary with a diverse programme: from cultural events and student conferences to expert discussions, through which Eucor underscores its role as a pioneer of cross-border higher education cooperation.

Over the past ten years, Eucor has achieved a great deal in pursuing its vision of an open, cross-border space for research and education. Since 2017, with its own funding instrument “Seed Money”, it has supported new cooperative projects between the universities. To date, Eucor has successfully raised funding for three European doctoral programmes (QUSTEC, EURIdoc, Gen-Q), which it implements as the central project coordinator. There are now three cross-border professorships, and Eucor is consistently implementing its second strategy 2024–2030.

The EGTC was created against the backdrop of long-standing, trust-based cooperation dating back to 1989. On 9 December 2015, the rectors and presidents of the Eucor universities signed the founding documents of the EGTC. With its publication in the official gazette of the state of Baden-Württemberg, it entered into force on 24 February 2016. With this legal form, Eucor received its own legal personality for the first time, enabling the participating universities to act together across national borders.
